Kembang perawan yang dulu pernah terlihat di ujung gang. Kunanti kau hingga petang, kunanti kau hingga fajar menjelang. Tapi tetap tak kembali datang.

Kembang perawan di pinggir jalan. Kemarin kupetik kau dan kuletakkan dalam jambangan. Tapi sekarang sudah lenyap dari pandangan, kemana kau gerangan?

Kembang perawan, kunanti kau dengan gelisah hati. Seperti Muhammad di Gua Hiro sunyi. Seperti Mariam yang mengandung Isa tanpa suami. Penuh gelisah, kira-kira seperti itulah yang kualami.
